Commissioned by Ballroom Marfa for our Spring 2008 exhibition, Hello Meth Lab in the Sun comprised diorama-like depictions of a hippie commune, a clandestine meth lab and other sites of modern industrial production. Unearthing the complex relationships between 1960s counterculture and present day dystopias, the installation immersed visitors in a labyrinthine assemblage of possible sites for modern day alchemical transformation. The installation was shown in part at The Station during Art Basel Miami 2008, and a variation of the original is currently on show at Deitch Projects, New York. The official catalogue launch will be held at Ballroom Marfa with contributors present. Refreshments will be served. All are invited to attend.
