HOTELS
Marfa has five hotels (and one B&B):

El Cosmico
432.729.1950
El Cosmico is an 18-acre trailer, tent and teepee hotel and campground. Bicycles and wood-fired hot tubs are available to rent. A hammock grove and an outdoor kitchen with a fridge, sink and barbecue grills add to the bohemian vibe. Camping can be risky business in March in West Texas, but why not live dangerously?

Hotel Paisano
432.729.3669
West Texas gem. Restored hotel with original architectural details, plus an outdoor pool and a restaurant. The cast of Giant — Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, and Rock Hudson — stayed here during filming.

Hotel Saint George
432.729.3700
The Hotel Saint George offers 55 rooms, great views, two restaurants, and a bar/lounge, right in the heart of downtown Marfa. Texas Monthly voted it one of the ten best places to stay in Texas. The great Marfa Book Company is located in the lobby.

Riata Inn
432.729.3800
Roadside motel with big rooms and a cold pool. Cheapest option in town. Note: It’s easier to have a car if you stay here, though you can also rent a bike from Bike Marfa or Bizarro Bikes.

Thunderbird Hotel
877.729.1984
1950s motel converted into minimalist-chic retreat with modern art-laden rooms, a pool, and fire pits. Bicycles also available to rent. The cozy Capri restaurant and bar conveniently located across the street.

Marfa also has one bed and breakfast, the Arcon Inn, owned by Mona Garcia, who runs Marfa’s International Women’s Foundation (and reportedly is cousins with Dan Blocker, who played Hoss Cartwright on Bonanza).

CAMPING / RVS
Looking for adventure? Bring your RVS and campers and hunker down in some of our local RV parks.

Apache Pines RV Park
877.729.1984
Apache Pines offers 25 full RV hook-ups, free cable + WIFI, level pull-throughs, right off of Highway 90 at the western edge of town (near the newly restored neon Stardust sign), with beautiful prairie views in all directions.

El Cosmico
432.729.1950
El Cosmico is our favorite 18-acre trailer, tent and teepee hotel and campground, and they also welcome RVs. Call to arrange (and camping is available year-round).

Tumble In RV Park
432-301-9860
Sweet little RV park with tent camping as well as 14 spacious sites, a self check-in system, clean facilities, free wifi, starry skies, and a manager on-site most (but not all) of the time.

FORT DAVIS & ALPINE
If you can’t find anything in Marfa, never fear! Fort Davis and Alpine are close at hand, 21 and 27 miles away respectively (basically the length of your average commute). Our recommendations below.

Alpine
Alpine is a sweet little university town, so there are lots of budget motel options — plus it offers treasures like Alicia’s, the Rangra Theater, and your-one-stop-spot-for-all-things-Western, Big Bend Saddlery. Here are a few housing suggestions — see the Alpine Chamber of Commerce for a complete list.

Antelope Lodge
432-837-2451
Antelope Lodge was built in 1949 as one of the first motor courts in West Texas. It offers cottages with kitchenettes, porches, and more. Our friend David Branch loves this place.

Hampton Inn
432-837-7344
Your standard motel fare, but with nice perks: free wifi, free parking, and free breakfast. Rated a certificate of excellence on Trip Advisor in 2016.

432-837-9597
Solid choice, similar to the Hampton Inn, with free wifi, free parking, and free breakfast.

The Holland Hotel
800-535-8040
Located in the center of downtown Alpine, this hotel offers an authentic slice of West Texas flavor, with some of the nicest rooms in town.

The Maverick Inn
432-837-0628
Dubbed “a roadhouse for wanderers,” The Maverick is a cute little spot with 21 rooms, Western vibes, and daily complimentary continental breakfast.

Fort Davis
A mere 20 minutes from Marfa, Fort Davis is one of our favorite getaways. It has a great thrift store and is home to the wonderful Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center. For all lodging options, including B&Bs, camping, and vacation rentals, please visit the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce.

Butterfield Inn Cottages
432-426-3252
Located in the heart of Fort Davis, these country cottages offer wood burning fireplaces, central heat and air, queen beds, rocker recliners, cable TV, and full private baths.

Harvard Hotel
432-426-2500
An eight-room hotel located in downtown Fort Davis. Each room offers a refrigerator, microwave, TV, coffeepot, pillow-top mattresses, and more.

Hotel Limpia
432-426-3237
Historic hotel with 44 rooms and suites on the square in downtown Fort Davis. They also have a restaurant, the Blue Mountain Bistro, open Tuesday through Saturday.

Indian Lodge in Davis Mountains State Park
432-426-3254
Developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this 39-unit park lodge is located in the scenic Davis Mountains State Park. A nice escape from the big city.

Stone Village Tourist Camp
432-426-3941
Located in the middle of Fort Davis, this 1935 tourist court has been remodeled and has 14 rooms. Very budget friendly (and has a heated pool!) and right next door to the Stone Village market and deli.
