As part of the Ballroom Marfa’s Music on Film series, curators Vance Knowles & Noel Waggener selected three documentaries that explore the lives and work of noted musicians. The selection included New York Eye & Ear Control, directed by Michael Snow with soundtrack by Albert Ayler and friends, The Connection, directed by Shirley Clarke with soundtrack by Freddie Redd, and Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song, directed by Melvin Van Peebles with soundtrack by Van Peebles with an early incarnation of Earth, Wind & Fire.
