Concert
Ballroom Marfa wrapped up the 2008 music season with a performance by Rolling Stone’s 2008 songwriter of the year, Conor Oberst. Oberst performed with The Mystic Valley band. Along with The Felice Brothers and RIG 1, they ended their world tour with a rare, intimate concert at the Goode Crowley Theater.
In Marfa, Oberst performed a new collection of songs — introspective folk and rock steeped in Americana. Known for the diversity of his work, and often compared to Bob Dylan, Oberst’s musicianship favors immediacy over perfection: he continually constructs verses rather than repeat hooks or write them down, feeling that his songs are never completed.
